Julie and I have gotten to do two west coast tours together and she played everything remotely resembling a keyboard instrument on Songs for a Hurricane. She is one of the deepest, most versatile and intuitive musicians out there. She played in Ani DiFranco's road-warrior band for many years, as well as with Bruce Cockburn, Maceo Parker, The Indigo Girls, Erin McKeown, Dar Williams, Catie Curtis, Girlyman, Allison Miller, Jon Evans, Laura Love, and Alix Olson, to name a few. Needless to say, she barely has time to brush her teeth, but who needs teeth when you have such a beautiful feel for music and are so lovely to be on the road with?
