Steve is one of those people who can be musical on just about any instrument you put into his hands. He has joined me for quite a number of tours in different parts of the country, very gamely allowing himself to be dragged out of his element and into airplanes, hiking boots, hot tubs, and the Midwest. Steve is my favorite person to sing Beatles songs with. He's been in bands including Hummer, The Benders, and Sticky, and played as a sideman for Clare Burson, Jimmy Ryan, Dave Johnston, and a whole lot of other people. He also does quite a bit of producing, and in fact recorded my track “Ain't No Grave” for a compilation record of the same title. As if all that weren't enough, he writes and records his own songs, which are about as hooky and satisfying as they come.
